Roof Rack Paint Damage

Anyway i bought a thule roof rack for my golf and was wondering if anyone has experienced any paint damage from leaving the rack on more often than not.

I sell and install roof racks for a living backcountry racks thule yakima roof racks for cars trucks and suvs. I haven t installed it yet waiting for the fit kit to get here but have read of people placing 3m vinyl tape underneath the feet of the rack to avoid paint damage fading. That is what causes the paint hazing that a lot of people get which the step 1 swirl remover should help with. I highly suggest lamin x roof rack guard or scotchguard clear paint protector to reduce bike rack damage on your vehicle.

My apologies i have had both a yakima and a thule rack on my prius. I ve just had to buy new thule bars for my golf as the vw bars are too fat for thule roof boxes with the new quick clamps. Whether it is mounting the rack traveling with or dismounting your bike there are all kinds of risks to your paint job if you don t take precautions. The 10 figure is for a roof rack with some crap on it i only loose 15 tying 8 surfboards total hight approx 2 full width of the car overhang front and rear to mine so i doubt very much.

Keep the pads clean especially when they are in storage. If you go biking once every few months then maybe but if you are not careful and damage the paint while installing it on and off then that s an issue. We have a team of experts on hand 7 days a week. I have always relied on the rubber pad they are supplied with and had no issues with paint damage. Exceeding the speed rating could damage your car or the roof rack. No risk of damage i would recommend thule products over vw they are also cheaper. I switched to a thule rack because their clips are heavily coated and will not scratch the paint ever. Some racks come with clear protective paper that you can attach to spots where your bikes have contact with your vehicle. It is all centered around bike racks and the damage it can cause to your car.

Protect the paint before you install a roof rack do not just wax the paint sent from my iphone using tapatalk.
